We will meet at Cape Fear River Adventures, 100 South Main Street, Lillington, North Carolina at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12. Our paddle will last from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. You can bring your own non-motorized boat (the ramp fee is $5 per boat) or rent one (kayaks start at $15 for the hour, but may be less if we can get enough people for a group discount). Financial support is available. Beginners are welcome. This part of the river is easy and pleasant to paddle!
We’ll enjoy the river and take a few group photos to demonstrate our love for the Cape Fear and the need to protect it from threats such as the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, GenX contamination, coal ash, and pollution from industrial agriculture. Afterward, feel free to join us at Raven Rock State Park for a picnic lunch.
Note: Lillington is several miles upriver from the source of the recently-discovered GenX contamination.
PLEASE RSVP no later than Monday, August 8 here: https://tinyurl.com/yaamolmz
