==== WEAR BLUE!!! ====
The Rockville City Council will officially be taking up the proposed “Fostering Community Trust” ordinance for discussion on Monday, June 19. This is it! Let’s bring a STRONG showing of support for this common-sense proposal that would keep Rockville’s police focused on the safety of their community–that means NOT doing the job of federal immigration authorities.
The Mayor and Council meeting begins at 7pm, with an open Community Forum scheduled early in the meeting. Here’s how you can help:
SHOW UP early if you can. The meeting starts at 7, but we’ll begin gathering at 6 in front of Rockville city hall to show our support for the ordinance. Bring signs if desired; we’ll have extras on hand!
SPEAK UP during “Community Forum,” which will be scheduled early in the meeting (shortly after 7). Anyone may offer oral testimony, with a 3 minute time limit. We suggest you call the city clerk at 240-314-8280 in advance to sign up, though you should be able to sign up in person if you get there before 7. Tell the mayor and council why you support this ordinance, and why you think they should vote in favor of it!
WEAR BLUE! We’re asking supporters of the ordinance to dress in blue–we figure it’s a color most people have on hand. This is meant to provide a quick, easy visual identity.
WRITE to the mayor and council, whether you can make it on the 19th or not. Email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell them why they should support this ordinance!
